Thai Yoga Massage

Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient healing system that combines broad and targeted acupressure, stimulation and manipulation of energy lines called sen, and assisted yoga postures. Treatment effects are enhanced when the patient is fully relaxed and breathing deeply. There is constant body contact between the practitioner and client, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension. The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a dance of movement on the body of the recipient. In this process, joints are opened, muscles and tendons are stretched, internal organs are toned, and energy is balanced. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being.

Cupping and Gua Sha Therapy

The human body can become weakened by improper diet, lack of sleep, mental stress, too much or too little physical activity. This can lead to illness and pain. Gua Sha and Cupping Therapy are two techniques based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, that are used to eliminate common illness and pain.

In Gua Sha, the practitioner uses a tool to rub along the back, using moderate pressure. This can create marks along the treated area called petechiae or "Sha". Petechiae are pinpoint sized spots that result from local leakage of blood into the skin from broken capillaries. These marks are pinpoint sized spots that result from local leakage of blood into the skin from broken capillaries. Theses marks are not bruises. This method of treatment improves blood circulation, moves stagnant blood that causes chronic pain, and promotes new blood production.

In Cupping Therapy, the practitioner uses suction cups to draw up the tissue on the back, allowing blood to flow into the tissue and promote healing. Some forms of Cupping Therapy may create petechiae, which will fade within 4 days. Some forms of Cupping Therapy may create ecchymosis, which is similar to petechiae, only larger than pinpoint sized spots. Ecchymosis is not bruising.
